The Arts Revisited: Community Arts in Northern Ireland

The Community Arts Forum (CAF) was established in 1993.

CAF was an umbrella and networking organisation for the community arts sector. It was a membership organisation that spanned all art forms, all areas and aimed to provide greater access to the arts to all people in Northern Ireland. It was based in Cathedral Quarter.

This 1999 film documents the phenomenal growth of community arts. A movement, which continues to be a real success story for Belfast.

Just some of the groups featured are Ballybeen Community Theatre, Belfast Carnival, Ardoyne Youth Club, Wheelworks, Shankill Festival, Upper Springfield Development Trust, Triple FM, Shankill Youth Lyric, Feile an Phobail, The Wedding Community Play Project… plus a cast of thousands.
